Local Businesses Offer Discounts to our Members

One of the benefits of being a member of The Friends is the Friends & Neighbours programme, which allows members a discount on purchases from businesses local to Holland Park, our Neighbours. We aim to build a community of interest around the park, to encourage new members to join the Friends and we want to give something back to our loyal members.

Discounts are available on showing a current membership card for The Friends when making a purchase. So far, we have more than a dozen Neighbours. If you are already a member, do visit them. If you are not yet a member, do join The Friends and benefit from the discounts.


The Design Museum

Design MuseumThe Design Museum, with its wonderful parabolic roof, is a familiar sight to all Holland Park visitors. Since its re-opening in 2018, the stunning new interior gives a sense of anticipation as soon as you enter the building. There is a permanent exhibition from the Museum's collection, temporary exhibitions, talks, workshops and events. The Design Museum is devoted to contemporary design in every form, from architecture and fashion to graphics, product and industrial design. The main atrium is a wonderful place to sit and reflect on your experience.

Holland Park Cafe - Temporarily closed for alterations

CafeWell used by visitors to the park, this cafe serves light meals, snacks, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and pastries. It is very pleasant to sit on the terrace on a sunny evening, watching the more energetic rushing around the sports field. Customers include mums and dads with young children, chess players, park visitors from all over the world and a few people earnestly taking advantage of the free WiFi to catch up on e-mails.

They specialise in architectural views of Kensington, London and Italy as well as maps, models, Florentine stationery and house portrait commissions. Owners, Gordon, Sandra and Alex French are well known to the Friends, not least for running our annual art exhibition.

Il Portico Restaurant

Il PorticoIl Portico Restaurant on Kensington High Street has been cooking regional Italian specialities since it was first opened in the 1960's by Pino Chiavarini. RassellsRassell's plant nursery has been on this site for over 100 years and is a local institution. The plants for sale change with the season and you can find unusual gems among the more recognisable trees, shrubs and annuals. The staff show real interest and are great on advice, from what to plant to how to plant it and what treatment it needs to survive. They also sell cut flowers and house plants.

Romulo Cafe - Now closed

RomuloRomulo Cafes are well established in the Philippines and their London restaurant features some of their most popular dishes. ULI Restaurant

ULI RTestaurantULI serves carefully selected dishes from Asia, prepared using traditional Chinese, Thai, Malay and Singaporean disciplines. Chakra Restaurant

ChakraThe flavourful North Indian cuisine with Punjabi influences is not the only attraction of this gem of a restaurant, tucked away in Holland Street. A chakra is a centre of spiritual and healing power within the body and this is represented in the jewel colours and fabrics of the interior, so that the environment, as well as the food, gives pleasure. The focus is on dishes cooked in the tandoor, as well as a selection of dishes from several other regions of the sub-continent. Menus change regularly and include Indian brunch and afternoon tea. SadafSadaf, a well-establish Persian restaurant, has recently moved to Kensington. You can enjoy treats from light salads and snacks to hearty stews, kebabs and rice dishes, all with delicious Persian flavours. ThreadsThis laid-back hair and beauty salon has its own coffee bar where you can relax and enjoy freshly-roasted coffee, juices and snacks. Treatments include hair cutting, styling and colouring as well as facials, manicures and pedicures.

Threads & Co is the brainchild of Australian born entrepreneur and make-up artist Matthew Bartell. Its sister company, Threads Beauty Ltd, was launched in 2009, with threading & nail bar concessions in various department stores & fashion stores in Ireland.
